Resident & Fellow Association (RFA)
The Morehouse School of Medicine Resident & Fellow Association (RFA) is the official
representative body for all MSM residents and fellows across every residency and fellowship
program, including our Atlanta and MiCA campuses.
For more than 45 years, MSM has trained physicians committed to advancing health equity
and serving communities with excellence and compassion. The RFA proudly continues
this legacy by strengthening trainee representation, institutional collaboration,
and community engagement across all training sites.
Our Role in Institutional Accreditation
The RFA serves as the ACGME-mandated partner in institutional accreditation. In accordance with ACGME Institutional Requirements, the RFA ensures formal trainee participation in graduate medical education oversight and governance.
Through representation on the Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC) and related institutional committees, the RFA:
-Provides resident and fellow input on institutional policies and accreditation standards
-Participates in discussions impacting program quality, resources, and trainee well-being
-Supports the Annual Institutional Review and continuous improvement processes
-Ensures trainee voices are incorporated into institutional decision-making
The RFA is not only a representative body, but a required and active partner in maintaining the academic and accreditation excellence of MSM’s GME programs.
Our Mission
The mission of the Resident & Fellow Association is to advocate for and support all MSM residents and fellows. We are committed to enhancing the training environment,
promoting professional development, strengthening wellness initiatives, and fostering a unified trainee community across all campuses.
A Unified Trainee Community
In recent years, the RFA has expanded to include all residency and fellowship programs, strengthening collaboration across departments and training sites.
– Building a cohesive, cross-program and cross-campus trainee network
– Supporting collaboration between Atlanta and MiCA campuses
– Promoting consistency and institutional identity across all MSM-affiliated programs
– Hosting community engagement and service initiatives that reflect MSM’s mission of advancing health equity
– Creating opportunities for peer connection, mentorship, and leadership development
Through these efforts, the RFA serves as a central platform for trainee leadership and institutional partnership.
Community Engagement
Consistent with MSM’s mission of leading the creation and advancement of health equity to achieve health justice, the RFA actively supports and participates in community outreach initiatives. These efforts reinforce the institution’s longstanding commitment to service while strengthening bonds between trainees and the communities they serve.
Get Involved
All MSM residents and fellows are members of the RFA and are encouraged to participate actively. Whether through committee service, institutional representation, community initiatives, or collaborative programming, the RFA provides meaningful opportunities to shape the future of graduate medical education at Morehouse School of Medicine.
Together, we honor MSM’s 45-year legacy of GME excellence while advancing a unified, institution-wide vision for trainee leadership and accreditation partnership.
